Installation
While the majority of the manufacturing of your new countertop occurs at our plant, there are a number of important steps that must occur in your home.
Sinks, faucets, cooktops, ranges and accessories.
- It is your responsiblity to purchase a new sink and accessories that fit your cabinet box, as recommended. If you so desire, Monschein can supply your preferred undermount and topmount for you.
-
- Monschein will "loose set" your self-rimming sink and have it ready for your plumber to mount it, attach any clips, hardware, and plumbing. Self-rimming sinks are always cut in your
house, which can create some dust. Your plumber is then required to clean and caulk your self-rimming sink.
Seams.
- Because natural stone is natural, it is not necessarily uniform. That is part of the inherent beauty of natural stone, such as granite. Because of this, sometimes we are required to leave a seam in the pattern of the surface when we fit your top. When seams are required on your new countertop, Monschein encourages you to visit our plant with your template. We place your template on the native slab so you can choose the seam location yourself. Such seams are then filled with a polyester material, and colored to match the stone as closely as possible..
Sealing.
- Your new countertops are sealed at our plant, using only the highest quality impregnating sealers. We recommend resealing your granite countertops every five years or so. However, never apply any other type of sealing agent other than the ones used in the original manufacturing process. Monschein will be happy to reseal your tops for a small charge.
